i think part of the reason the quality of posts has gone down--which is something i've noticed too--is simply that there isn't much dramatic development in the last few months, or the next few months.  the wii will continue to stay #1, 360 and ps3 will duke it out at #2, and the DS will just keep dominating the PSP.  not much left to be said, except for repeating different versions "wii is a fad" or "ps3 will dominate once the great games come out" and people giving their reasons for disagreeing.

secondly, there isn't nearly enough discussion of actual gameplay experience.  many of us are here because we're interested in sales, but for whatever reason discussions on games themselves are sparse.

i visited a english premier league football team forum once and there they had a "serious discussion only" forum.  now that site had like 100,000+ members, so you can do that; but even for the casual rooms, the mods actually tell people where to look things up if something has already been discussed to death (like player transfer rumors).  maybe we need mods to do more than just being moderators, but actually take an active role in thread management.

that might be hard to do with the current organization of threads.  for instance there is no search capability for the threads.  in any other forums, if i have a question or something i want to discuss, the first thing i do is do a search and see if somebody's already talked about it.  it's inconvenient here, and you end up with identical threads sometimes, and not even mods can easily tell if it's a repeat.

ideas?

the Wii is an epidemic.
