That wasn't Sephiroth, it was Jenova in the form of Sephiroth. Sephiroth was in a fuck load of Mako at the time of this happening.

And another thing. Jenova isn't Sephiroth's mother.

Jenova is an ancient being that dropped from space. Shinra extracted her/it DNA/cells and injected it into Sephiroth, Angeal, Genesis and even Zack. Sephiroth discovered the truth, went mad and did all that shit by himself.

It wasn't Sephiroth who stabbed Pres Shinra in the back and it wasn't him who stabbed Aeris either.
