Dude finding people was never a problem on W@W even on the largest map. I forget the name but I'm guessing you played W@W but the Japanese island map that was really long, right in the middle is a perfect spot to camp and you could even set up some bouncing bettys to guard you a bit while you camp. People will just come to you if you play like that.
