| jarrod said: It outsold the PS2 games, hell MHG Wii even outsold the PS2 version. Granted that was before the franchise hit the big time on PSP, but the game is at least consistent with Capcom's expectations so far and it's actually beating expectations on the online subscriptions. Then there's also Taiko and the DQ spinoff, which both sold consistently with comparable PS2 entries. Plus Capcom's Wii Biohazard shooters have far outsold their PS2 counterparts. On Wii, established brands usually sell, new brands usually flop. That's generally the way it goes on all platforms actually, the only reason the HD consoles have generally better 3rd party sales is because they have generally better established 3rd party brands. If we bring 1st party into it though (as you did with S&P) Wii software sales murder HD consoles. Also, Treasure's never sold 50k in Japan on an shooter. Fat chance it'd happen on 360, especially with a rail shooter... Panzer Orta didn't even break 50k on the original Xbox and that was a series that sold 500k+ on Saturn. :P |
I'm not saying it's a flop or anything, but MH3 has a while to go in order to meet the expectations for Monster Hunter 3.
