You really think the Zune wasn't a copycat? Bill Gates actually showed some jealousy when he first saw the iPod. Don't tell me that's not a copycat, and don't tell me these aren't. Even the most hardcore Wii haters know these are copycats, just that they delude themselves into thinking those matter by themselves. Game sell systems. The Wiimote didn't sell itself.
As for game systems, you're confusing generational tech advances with this. Moore's Law is why new consoles are made that way, not this.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
