Not entirely a talent thing (although important). It depends on what the developer is trying to acheive. SotC is immersive for totally different reasons than why CoD is immersive. CoD is immersive due to intense battles and amazing set-pieces (the latter which could probably be done on Wii). SoTC is immersive due to the emotions (not normally associated with games) evoked in the game. Loneliness, intrigue, loss and wonder. Then their is Agro who actually acts like a real and loyal horse. They are different types of games. I have yet to find a pure FPS that's as immersive on Wii as it is on the HD consoles or PC (much to my suprise as I always assumed the controls would immerse me more on the Wii). Often this is due to the fact that FPS games on Wii are too static compared to the HD versions. Less things move as they should, too many repeated animations, less bodies remaining and basically not enough physics. Its not solely about visuals. That's not to say devs can't create a great cinematic game on the Wii, its just that it would have to work to and be designed around the contraints and advantages of the Wii. As IW are making a multi-plat, they take advantage of the extra power the PC and (to a lesser extent) the HD consoles have. |
Ahem both of which can be and has been done already :\ CoD W@W might not have had the fluid 60 frames but it did have intense fights with some "Wii can do that?" moments especially on the Germany levels.
There's a lot I would debate here cause it all seems kinda dumb to me as CoD this gen is the same experience as last gen there's no more immersion but no less either IW is just great at making their FPS games.
