You really underestimate GT selling power and GT fanbase.
If MGS4 can sell 4-5 mln. on current PS3 userbase, then GT5 will definitely sell 10 mln.+ LTD.

Anyway, in about 7 weeks we will have FFXIII first week sales in Japan, which probably will indicate what GT5 can sell.
