End of 09: Modern Warfare 2, without a doubt. Nearly 2.5 million preorders in North America alone, and with 2 weeks to go until release. It won't sell under 4.5 million first week on PS3 and 360 combined. And sales will continue through the holidays. Not even a Mario game stands a chance against that. NSMB DS just broke a million first week.
Lifetime: This one is harder, because while CoD4 has the best legs of any PS360 game, the legs still pale in comparison to some Wii games. NSMB DS sold some 20 million, the Wii version obviously won't sell that much. MW2 should manage 13-14 million. A virtual tie, but I'll give it to MW2.
