I'll give an example of two PS3 third person shooters, released in the same year.

Uncharted 2: Runs like a dream, looks fantastic, no install

Resident Evil 5: Low framerate, glitches, decent graphics, 5GB install.

That's sloppy port work for the PS3 version. You then have a game like Infamous that doesn't look nearly as good or is as nearly as big as Grand Theft Auto 4, and Infamous is an exclusive that still has a mandatory install. It works both ways. Good developers make good games that run well. Uncharted 2 also looks A lot better than MGS4, and that game has like six installs. I mean do you really think if the roles were reversed and Resident Evil 5 was the exclusive and Uncharted 2 was the multiplat that it would magically make Resident Evil 5 the more polished game?

Maybe if Capcom were able to focus on one platform, they could develop and write code specifically for that platform, rather than being lazy and just chucking in a 5GB install. And this is the third party whose games often sell better on PS3. I'd hate to think what would happen if the 360 version sold much better. A 10GB install?

Of course, Capcom are worse offenders than most third parties. MGS4 was just ridiculous, of course. I suppose part of it is being a first party studio and having access to anyone in Sony.
