He takes plenty of bullets. He just heals from them with his regenerating health. Would you prefer it if they dotted hospitals around the game, and every time you lost health, you had to go to hospital and see the doctor? You would, of course, have to pay, but where do you get the money? Well, you work. Drake could get a job in a bank (also scattered around the game). But he's probably not qualified for that, so there will need to be universities in the game...
