Namco Bandai did this with Soul Calibur IV, shipping 2m copies.
Konami have also shipped 3m of PES 2010 to Europe, and it only did 500k week one. Whilst I would be very surprised if it had not sold 4m by the time the next one comes out, many of those will be at lower prices
Stuff like this is stupid, but good for us, because we will get the game cheaper as retailers are desperate to make room for AC II and MW 2. I am sure, however, that this does not quite mean shipped to retailers for launch, more likely the number they have initially produced, and many of these copies are still in transit
