IYO, what are the worst things this gen has brought to the table?

The whole casual/hardcore thing and the "hardcore" (including the man-child gaming media) thinking the whole industry is going to fall apart if developers start making some games that aren't targeted at them.

The gaming media this gen, the vast majority have just become glorified advertisers.
