I saw alarm clocks like that in Japan a few years ago.
Actually I have an awesome alarm clock that I bought from Japan when I was about 14, it's a "True to life size" Pikachu that sings to wake you up. It's the most bizarrely Japanese thing ever.

Anyway, one invention that I can't believe hasn't been invented yet (or at least widely used), is a wireless telephone system for use in offices.
