Don't get me wrong, 800k+ is a damn good tally but I think this game deserved a lot more than that. I think this is my personal game of the year and will be so for many others but I think it deserved a million at least in the 1st week.

Game of the Year not the same as best-seller.  Uncharted 2 is not a game-changing, system selling brand.  I write this as a fan of Nathan Drake, by the way.  I am suprised it actually did that well.

Really? A 19% increase of sales for PS3 for release week seems to differ in opinion.

Also, why are you surprised it did so well? The game is FULL of quality, has one of the highest reviews EVER for a game, and has good marketing + good word of mouth.

I think the reasons you listed point to it not doing as well as it should have.

I still think it did well, but:

A first game in the series very well reviewed and lauded

Excellent word of mouth

Great advertising

Second game oozes quality

High reviews

Multiplayer

All of these things should point to a game being a big success

Maybe it should have done more. The install base in 360 and PS3 sales is close enough that exclusive AAA games should be doing gangbusters. Is there a huge percentage of PS3 owners using the machine strictly as a blueray device or what?
