I think the main thing to take away from this thread is that both HD platforms are starting to routinely pump out a large number of seriously high quality games.

So is the Wii.  There are so many, I don't have the time or money to even play them all.

As for the whole debate about reviews, any system that ranks Mario Kart Wii as the worst Mario Kart ever doesn't hold much weight in my book.

I don't know why Double Dash has received so good scores, but the rest is perfectly fine IMO. If you are trying to compare handhelds with gaming consoles.......well just don't do it.

Have you even played Mari Kart Wii?

Yes.

Played it with the Gamecube controller though and not with the Wii Wheel.

So then you already know that it is the best MK game ever, and that its review scores do not reflect its quality.

I know that I had more fun with Super Mario Kart & especially Mario Kart 64 in their respective generation. So yes I agree that MK 64 has a higher Metascore than MK Wii although MK Wii might have more features.

Interpretation of Metascores is everything. Something that was a 80 back then doesn't have to be a 80 today.

In their respective generation?  Super Mario Kart was good because it was the first of its kind, but Mario Kart 64 wasn't very good for its generation.  Diddy Kong Racing was better in every possible way.  DD was ok, but the driving mechanics were pretty poor.

MKWii has great driving mechanics, more drivers, more vehicles, twice the number of tracks, twice the number of multiplayer maps, tournaments, and online play.  It kicks the crap out of any MK before it.  It is one of the best, most feature packed game I've played this generation, yet it doesn't even come close to the magical 90% AAA status.

By the way Starcraft, AAA is a term borrowed from the credit rating agencies.  All it really used to mean was that a game was guaranteed to make money.

That's why Diddy Kong Racing has a higher Metascore than Mario Kart 64

I'm also fairly sure that Mario Kart 64 would get a significantly lower score by nowadays standards than MKWii.
