Well actually it does. The exact reason why Wii keep to dominate hardware and software sales is that they've expanded the consumer group by adding a non-gamer folk. And those people did not buy Wii to play great and quality games, but fell for the gimmicky controller and something which could be called "Apple" effect. Why did someone's grandma get a Wii? Well it certainly wasn't for games in the most common sense, she won't be playing quality Wii titles such as SMG, Zelda or Metroid, but instead she'll use Wii Fit.
And that's a fact, of this whole console generation Wii has the largest userbase share of nongamers / first-time console owners. If you take a look at the sales of casual shovelware crap and "hardcore" games, the shovelware rock it. One might even suspect, that PS3 has more "gamers" than Wii, since I can't really picture true gamers buying Wii Fit (and we are talking 22.3 milions here)... wanna lose fat? Get to the gym you chubby bastards!
