Honestly I can't tell if you are just joking around or you actually believe the stuff you type. Gordon Freeman is not more popular than Link and Master Chief and you could argue Snake. When people even in this thread are going who is Gordon Freeman, you know that is a clear sign. Next thing you know you will say World of Warcraft is bigger than Pokemon.

No Halo, Zelda or Metal Gear Solid game has ever sold as much as either Half-Life 1 and 2. What does that tell you? The fact that Freeman already won against Link and Snake in this Gamespot character contest further proves it, especially considering Gamespot is pretty much a console-centric gaming website, and only available in english language (and US and UK are both very console-centric markets).

And yes, World of Warcraft is bigger than Pokemon... WoW makes over $1 billion every year, which would equate to dozens of millions of units sold every year, if we changed the subscription money into actual unit sales.

Ignoring Snake, Link would have beat Gordon in the Gamefaqs list if it wasn't for steam interfering, even if that is small sample it surely shows Link is stronger (Link has been winning for almost a decade).

Also while I hate Masterchief as a character, he is more popular because of he is considered a Cultural Icon by the media, sadly he is up there with Mario, Link, Pikachu, Grand Theft Auto.

Last thing to add Masterchief is what I call Casual gaming Icon, as in everyone will know him, while Gordon is hardcore gaming icon, meaning the hardcore will know them.

Also we are discussing popularity, so do you believe World of Warcraft is more popular than Pokemon?
