Essentially they're games about the ressurection of the world. Terranigma does it best:
-Start out in a strange world and discover the existence of another much larger world (Earth).
-Lead the world through evolution to the rise of humanity
-thwart a historywide conspiracy
-help inventors invent things which advance society
-Watch your achievements have an impact on the advancement of the world
-Kingdoms fall, republics rise, villages grow to towns, then to cities advancing technology and business.
-Discover the new world
-See the first weapons of mass destruction used
-Think Zelda with much more to do, more moves, and a plotline like no other game out there
Terranigma was arguably the best game on the SNES, but it came out late.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
