DLC if done right is good.
If done wrong there needs to be a public outcry and some serious complaining to the developers/publishers. More likely the publishers as they usually make the decisions on money making, and that's really what DLC is. For instance, Day 1 DLC shouldn't really exist, or at the very least should be free. Another example is trying to get people to pay for simple aesthetic things like Horse Armor.
DLC should really be more of an expansion/add-on with new levels, some new art, new items/weapons, new maps and areas and possibly new game modes.
