I don't think Wii > PS3 is going to be the new standard in Japan. Sony is re-branding itself and I think the slim will stick. Wii may outsell it next week but it wont be the ongoing norm like it was before. You guys get a little too upset over this stuff though, no one knows for sure what's gonna happen, no matter what occurred in the past. I bet PS3 wins a few times in Oct and even November when NSMB Wii launches(not that week though). Only time will tell.

Edit: Seems like Mario is in December. I'm not sure if PS3 will win that month but I think FFXIII will move more consoles than NSMB Wii. I also think FFXIII will sell a lot more than people think.

Wii's hand this holiday is just stronger, stronger games lineup and bundles, PS3 has one big game this holiday in Japan, FF13, which is already getting disappointing sales predictions from two of the major tracking firms in Japan

It does have a stronger software lineup but I'm not sure those games will sell hardware. PS3 has a lot more market potential in my opinion. As for the low predictions, I have to laugh at those. They're going to be dead wrong. 1.5 million total for FFXIII? Not a chance it's going to sell that low.

You don't think that MC and Famitsu have a better handle on the Japanese market than you?  If it was just one, maybe I might say you could be right, but both are saying around the same lifetime sales (1.5 famitsu, 1.7-1.8 MC)

Actually with all the bundles Nintendo is releasing, they probably will sell a great deal of hardware, not to mention the Wii tends to scale up very nicely in sales at the holidays

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
