The fact is though the Wii generally always sees a large surge in sales during December, so Namco is probably hoping to ride that wave.
I don't think they're really thinking about FF13 all that much. Launching in December and maybe riding the crescent of NSMB Wii + December sales surge probably helps Namco more than waiting until Jan/Feb even without FF13.
I get a real strong feeling both the Wii and PS3's sales will go back into the dumps by the time late January rolls around.
