I think Sony's intentions for thr PSP Go were to increase digital sales, which was a success for them. as for the PS3 hurting it's sales it could be possible, I mean you walk into you nearest electrionics store thinking about buying a PSP Go and then realize for $50 more you can get a PS3(the best console in my opinion)
