When real life says something different than your beliefs, then your beliefs are wrong Montana We already saw Price cuts aren't the answer. One, MH3 is a front loaded game, just like FF13 it won't keep sustaining sales, Wii did have a big boost from the game, but it was a one week thing, so yeah it won't do it. Two, WSR and WF+, are sequels to very popular games, so you're going to see mostly repeat buyers not many new buyers, before the release of WF+ and WSR, Wii Fit and Wii sports both fell below 10K in Japan, basically they were at the tail end of their legs. NSMB on the other hand is a totally different game than is available on the Wii at the moment, not including VC, and its the latest iteration of a 2D mario platformer, a very popular genre, look at NSMB DS, still selling even after all these years. |
So wait, when price cuts help to spur sales, and result in things like the PS3 being above the Wii for weeks straight (despite not having a big variety of heavy hitters released), I'm the one who is wrong?
Price cuts aren't THE answer, but they're a great way to help spur sales. Just look at how many PS2s were sold when it was at a sub $200 price point, or how much lower prices have done for a variety of other systems. It doesn't really make a big difference if Monster Hunter 3 is a big game, because it didn't create big Wii hardware sales when it launched, and it hasn't helped to create them now. Ditto for Wii Sports Resort. While NSMB Wii could definitely help Wii sales in Japan, it's likely not going to do nearly as well as you think it will do (or wish it will do). It's just one game, and while 2D style games are practically at home on handhelds, they're not as big on consoles. And that still doesn't change the fact that you're making idiotic definitive statements out of a strange desire to be stubborn. Software definitely helps, but so do price cuts.
