sigh it was either two A-bombs, or genocide, neither one really a good option. the estimates of causalties were up to 50% of the attacking force, and 85-95% of japan's population. at the time the A bomb was a quick way to end the war with fewer loses all around.

and really the fire bombings of tokyo were far more terrible, tornados of fire ... if you did not get sucked into them and burn you could sufficate while the O2 burned from the air, fire moving uncontroled through the night the heat causing people to burst into flames.... terrible way to fight a war....
