so ~10 feet away on a 34" TV, or in other words you are in the "Full benefit of 480p is visible" range. Buying a 1080i TV was essentially a waste of money for that viewing distance. Of course, changing the viewing distance is easy and is a lot cheaper than buying a 55" TV 
EDIT: of course, those estimates are based on an "Average" person and your ability to notice the difference can be above/below average.
