Hopefully next gen they'll at least have optical output (which is already considered 'legacy' even now)
There is a distinct difference in quality between Stereo-DPLII and Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1. That's probably my biggest gripe about the Wii.
I typically use the Wii in conjunction with Dolby Pro Logic IIx to upmix it to 7.1....MP3 sounds real nice...
