Week ending the 20/sep/2009
As the busiest season of the year continues to gain momentum, a number of major releases are heading to retail this Friday.
Firstly, Electronic Arts’ Need For Speed: Shift kicks off the reinvention of the long-running racing series. The Xbox 360, PS3 and PC editions are touted as a ‘return to form’ for the franchise, and should satisfy fans with their focus on realism.
Meanwhile, Bethesda’s Wet provides fans of over-the-top action with an acrobatic blend of gunfights and swordplay. This stylised adventure features an adrenaline-fuelled combat system and the vocal talent of Eliza Dushku.
Also out this week is Toy Story Mania (Disney), Blood Bowl (THQ), NewU Fitness First Personal Trainer (Ubisoft) and Wacky World Of Sports (Sega).

EA’s latest edition to their illustrious racing franchise, ‘Need for Speed: Shift’, debuts at number No1 this week.
Developed by the brilliantly named and newly formed London based Slightly Mad Studios, with the PS3 coming out as the top format with 52% of the sales, while Xbox 360 takes 44% and PC and PSP have the remaining 5%.
This means that both Activision Blizzard’s ‘Guitar Hero 5’ and Codemasters’ ‘Colin McRae: Dirt 2’ shift down to No2 and No3 respectively.
Eidos’ ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum’ also moves down one place to No4, with Nintendo’s ‘Wii Sports Resort’ relaxing at No5.
The only other new entry in the Top 10 this week is Bethesda Softworks’ ‘WET’ which splashes down at No6.
EA’s ‘The Beatles: Rock Band’ drops three places to No7 while Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ stays entrenched at No8.
Nintendo keeps apace with ‘Wii Fit’ at No9 and EA’s ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10’ rounds off the Top 10.
