That's a pretty big drop in Others, I thought that would be the place that stayed up in the 200k range this week, though most of the past two weeks have indicated that the spike is due to previous owners buying a second one, Japan this week didn't see a software spike it seems.

The next couple of weeks will show if the price is significantly effecting the general public buying the PS3 and if it will "own this holiday" when compared to 360 as one prediction I read.

Pardon me? Do you have any source or facts behind that? Or you just assume it, it seems you bought into RolStoppable's yet again ridiculous prediction.

That "OH THEY BOUGHT A SECOND ONE" bullshit is pure speculation, nothing else.

I agree, especially since this is now the SECOND WEEK, if any current ps3 owners wanted a slim they would have bought one on the week of release.

Typically if new owners are buying a new system software gets a significant boost as well, I haven't even read this thread by Rol.  And no when people are buying a second system cause of a new model it can boost sales for at least a few weeks.  It's not like everyone in the world is unanimous when they're like oh hrm I should get my new model on day one...

If the boost was due to the price drop and not people wanting the newer model (and people not that into gaming will not care what model they buy they like the price point) the price drop happened the day the PS3 slim was announced.  In other words I'm making a sound logical argument that yes the boost has been due to the core gamer many of probably already own a PS3, now how things play out the next few weeks will be the indication of how the general public recieve the new price point.
