Here's what I think happened:
2004: Hey, let's make a GT for PSP!
A few months later: You know what? Screw it. Let's work on GT5 and a Prologue of GT5 which people will buy several million copies of
2009:
Sony: HAI GUYZ
PD: What?
Sony: Well, we're making this new PSP, called the PSP Go, and we want to leak it, and we want a good game to leak it with. Could you finish that GT game?
PD: Must we?
Sony: Yes.
PD: Alright, we'll be done by mid to late 2010.
Sony: No, you'll be done by October this year.
PD: But
Sony: SHUT UP AND DEVELOP!
Or something.
