Halo was based on Hype.
This was based on several websites. And you know why? Because they were afraid that no one would buy this new IP with undefinable gameplay, a dumb name and a deceptive art style.
And to call it a flop or success based on it's first week sales is pointless. Obviously had it sold an incredible amount first week that would have marked it a success, but still might do very well, or might now. We just can't tell whatsoever at this point.
And no, I'm not saying Halo is just based on Hype. It's also a great game. I'm just saying... It had HYPE!
