ok now you're grasping at straws. You're calling him lazy? When he actually went and googled and found a link? I don't quite get what the point of this post, as it clearly just shows that you simply don't have an argument.

I don't like it when people expect others to simply spoon feed them what they should be capable of finding on their own. Anyone with a genuine interest in a subject should be capable of doing their own research on that subject. Final-Fan adequately proved that with an Ars Technica article.

As for your arguments about modchips, you can close your eyes and play pretend all you want but it still won't change the fact that modchips are a means of getting around the product use as designated by the producer's company.

I see it as somewhat incongruous that you would tell someone "it's really a good idea for you to read this and this and this" and not provide any links to material that you presumably have and we do not.

But more jarring is the fact that when someone remarks on this incongruity you respond with mock astonishment and heavy condescendion, and tell someone not to be lazy when he clearly just got through not being lazy.

I think omgwtfbbq shares my sentiment, particularly in light of the fact that he's being subjected to the same condescension.

On the main topic: the mere fact that a device makes an artifact do something it was not designed to do does not make a device illegal. All kinds of devices do that for all kinds of reasons with no one questioning their legality, and the fact that some applications of this device are illegal does not justify making it illegal, as long as there is a substantial legitimate use for it and especially if that legitimate use cannot be duplicated by another reasonably obtainable and competetive product. The fact that you don't care about the substantial uses omgwtfbbq cites does not in any way negate them.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.
