I am about pretty far into Prime 1 now, just got the grapple beam. I was annoyed with the mechanism for switching visors and guns in the beginning too, and you do make mistakes. (But I did mistakes sometimes with the GC switching as well, tho not that many).
But, it does kind of grow on you, so it's not all bad. And the presentation is beautiful, the new lighting system is amazing. Also, remember that you can still use traditional lock-on, you don't HAVE TO use the free aim lock-on option. Myself I turn it off sometimes, especially with small enemies, since sometimes it's just easier to tap the lock on and kill all the enemies rather than trying to aim.
But the game hasn't aged well? That's bs. If this had been the first time the game had been released, I would still have been blown away. As far as I'm concerned, Prime 1 is in the top 10 of alltime best games, on any platform, maybe even top 5.
