Using a strategy guide: Does it ruin the game experience?

To me, having the strategy guide is just another thing that shows your love for the game. I don't even use mine but I still have 'em for the GameCube Zelda's and Metroid Prime 2 as well as RE4 (used it for the damn sliding puzzle you have to solve when you play Ashley)
