What makes GT and Forza racing sims, what disqualifies GRID from being one?

GRID is absolutely awesome, but by far from being a racing sim.
The drifts in races are fun, just not realistic at all.

No one would say Project Gotham Racing is a sim though the cars control more realistic than GRID IMO.
