Actually, Nintendo shipped 13.17 million through Sept 30. Vgchartz had Wii at 12.05 million.
Thats a 91% Sold:Shipped ratio
I had predicted the following shipped numbers for the big three through Sept 30 2007:
Wii - 13.4/ actual 13.17
PS3 - 5.60/ actual 5.59
360 - 12.9/ actual (we'll know in about 6 hours)
If you add the 5.8 million shipped through March 31 2007 to the projected 17.5 million shipped from Apr 1 2007 to March 31 2008
it means Nintendo will end up with 23.3 million Wiis shipped worldwide by March 31 2008. With a 90% sell through ratio, that would mean 21 million units sold to gamers. Both numbers will be higher than lifetime sales.
Since all three consoles have been out here are shipped total in three month intervals:
| Console | Dec 06' | March 2007' | June 2007' | Sept 2007' |
| Nintendo Wii | 3.19 | 5.84 | 9.27 | 13.17 |
| Xbox 360 | 10.4 | 10.9 | 11.6 | |
| Playstation 3 | 1.66 | 3.57 | 4.28 | 5.59 |
Again, I think Microsoft's number for Sept 2007 (shipped) will be ~12.9 million given the availability of 360 and the fact that Halo 3 was only available for one week in this period, preventing dramatic overshipping. If Microsoft does announce a number under 13.17 million Nintendo will probably be comfortable in declaring they have taken the world wide lead, since they have put out more units in less time at a cheaper price.
For those curious, here are my projected December 2007 shipment totals (Wii/360/PS3):
| Dec 2007' |
| 20.5 |
| 17 |
| 8.75 |
