Other interesting MagicBox tidbits:

Okami developer Ready at Dawn revealed tidbits about the game:

  • The Wii version is being produced by Ready at Dawn internally, no member from Clover Studio was involved
  • The biggest challenge are time constraints, the team has to use Clover Studio's source code and assets directly
  • The Wii Remote will be used to control the brush strokes in the game
  • There are no new content planned for the Wii port
  • The Wii controls will make the game play come to life in various ways, even those who played the PS2 version

- Hori announced the Xbox 360 arcade joystick Virtua Fighter 5 Live Arena Stick will be released in Japan simultaneously with the game on December 6, 2007.

- Tecmo confirmed that there won't be a multi-player mode for Ninja Gaiden 2 for Xbox 360, the game will be released in spring 2008.

- The US Official Xbox 360 magazine revealed the revenue breakdowns of a typical $60 Xbox 360 game.

  • $12 - Dealer or Retailer
  • $12 - Microsoft royalties and production cost
  • $7 - Marketing
  • $20 - Development cost
  • $9 - Publisher

Microsoft announced a price drop of Xbox 360 in Japan starting on November 1, 2007, the price of Premium Edition will be lowered from 39795 yen to 34800 yen (US$305), and the Core System will be lowered from 29800 yen to 27800 yen (US$243). In additional, there will be a Xbox 360 Value Pack for 34800 yen, which includes the 20GB Hard Drive, Viva Pinata and Forza Motorsport 2.

The 360 cost breakdown is interesting.

The $7 "could" be mandated (i.e. part of retailer costs). What this means, is on a $60 360 title - the publisher gets about half. This has to cover development cost and profit.

Surprised that MS takes $12 / unit - that is a HEAP of money (for what is basically a disc press). Wasn't it reported that Sony was taking MORE for PS3 titles?
