Diomedes1976 said: Well this game arrived to the shops the day 8 of february and the week ends the 11 ,so it is possible that it doesnt surpass the 50K units ,but the second week will be equally strong ...if games like Resistence and Gundam have sold 110-140k units I doubt VF5 will do worse . As for the DS selling millions of games well its true ,but for third parties this does mean little as 90% of the million sellers are Nintendo games .If you look at the N64 and Cube games in both Japan and USA there are many Nintendo-produced million sellers ,and that didnt mean a thing as most third party companies struggled to make profit from those plattforms and slowly dropped support .And with DS ,despite its phenomenal success ,more of the same is happening .If for example in the US data you remove the Nintendo games for the DS and the SOny ones for the PSP you will see that third party companies have sold much more games on the PSP ...and games at a higher price too .Thats why despite the apparent beating the DS is giving the PSP you see each day games announced for the PSP and not so many for the DS ....thats one of the characteristics and strenghts and weakness of Nintendo ...they sell gazillions of games but the third party not so many and support is dropped slowly
I still think its a bit early to tell on VF 5. But as for your DS assesment; yes, Nintendo is the prime mover in Software. But that's not scaring away third party support at all. Just look at this week's top fifty in Japan, there are 2 third party PSP titles and 15 third party DS titles. In Japan, the PSP has nine games by third parties that have sold more than 200,000, The DS has 15 (3 of which are million sellers, assuming Final Fantasy 3 gets there next week). And with the continued surge in DS sales and actual decreased PSP sales in Japan from last year probably means the trend of more third party success on the DS will continue. It's hard not to draw parallels between the DS/PSP competition and the Wii/PS3. Especially with the Wii games series looking to be Nintendo's next brain Training like Success.
