Ditto. I have no idea how the FPS part dovetails with the racing aspect.

Simple. Chase enemies on foot. Shoot enemies. See vehicle. Get in vehicle. Drive and shoot enemies. It's been done pretty often- Battlefield, Halo, Unreal Tournament III....

I've never heard of any of those obscure games.

Me neither, but I heard somebody arguing about them on the internet.
