As for the merger of Sony Liverpool and Evolution, it was never a rumor. 

I'm not sure about the details, but I think their merger was a purely economical one. Basically cost cutting by housing both studios in the same building, allowing them to share resources, etc. I believe they're still two distinct studios in terms of production, much like how BigBig are still doing their own thing.

WipEout HD isn't WipEout PS3- it's basically a remake of the PSP games, in 1080p 60fps. No new tracks or modes or anything like that.
