Here is a thought: There is nothing but gamers. Each gamer has their own genre preferences (Minigames, RPG, shooter, etc.), and each gamer has a different amount of time available in their lives to play games. If anything you could say that certain games or game companies have a "core" fanbase of dedicated fans, but these people are such a small percentage of the industry that they are a non-factor. |

The other thing that bothers me is the phrase "real gamer." "Real gamers" play whatever games they find to be fun and don't give a crap what anyone thinks about what they play. Being judgemental of others for enjoying a certain type of game and categorizing them into a group considered negative because they like those games is immature and pathetic.
