I've been thiking about this game a lot lately as well. For a long time the N64 version was my favorite Mario Kart. I was very disappointed with Double Dash. Initially I had Mario Kart Wii as a distant second to the N64 Version and probably tied with the SNES version for 2nd..But I've caught the Mario Kart Wii bug again lately and I must say its probably the best console iteration ever.
The only real complaints I have for the game is 1) I think Bikes are unbalanced compared to the Karts. And 2) That they fucked up battlemode. SNES I think is still the best battlemode to be in a Mario Kart game. Also I would have liked the speedometer touch, but what can you do.
On second thought its tied for first..N64 is just too nostalgic.
