It was a deliberate decision by Nintendo. The GPU itself is capable of outputting in HD standards as I recall though. So with a firmware update you could have the Wii capable of outputting in HD, but as of right now it is absolutely impossible. |
PAL Wiis only have 480i, 576i and 480p, unfortunately no 576p.
