6. For your backwards compatability, I would expect the the japanese version/american version. (I dont know if you can play region coded PS2 games on a diffrent region PS3, I dont feel like spending 30 minutes looking that up for you. However the european version is likely to be the future of the PS3. As the Emotion chip will likely come out of the american/japanese PS3's in a a few months, and then all consoles will run the emulation. Sony just pulled it out of the PAL version to save a few dollars. Likely we will see the Emotion chip turned off in the american ones, and switch to 100% emulation.

If your not happy with the PS3's power consumption, (the 215w) I would suggest waiting 12-18months, and buy the one with the new chip die size, as it will likely use under 125w.

But how do you get the money into your account, from your credit card? And despite I have a European credit card I can even download payable contents from the Japanse store?

What kind of consequences will it have for BC when they remove the emotion chip? Will the upscale updates also work for the PS3 consoles with the emotion chip? Eh don't need to look up, PS3 is NOT region free for PS2 / PS games, but is only region free for PS3 games. PS2 / PS games really depends on what region console you have. Therefore a Japanese version is the most suitable for me. An editor of a gamemagazine told me at first to wait for the European version but later changed his mind and said if you ever buy a PS3 you better go for the Japanese version.

My TV can only go up to 780p, so 1080p is not really important.
