Really any game can be played in a hardcore way. I know 2 people that play Solitaire in a way that's more hardcore than what I expect most people on here play their "hardcore" games. They've been playing it every day for years.

Gamers can be hardcore, but games themselves cannot.

I like that definition. It completely eliminates the term "hardcore games"
