PC has always been way faster than Mac.

A $500 build-yourself PC will usually outrun a $1000 Mac.

hardly back in the PPC days it switched back in forth  almost every 6 months, G3 vs P2,  photoshop results vs video rendering. man when the G5 first tore on the scene they decimated all PC in encoding and almost all tasks on adobe software (excluding premier which had not returned ot the mac platform yet)

And if you remember in 2007 the 15 inch mac book pro was the fastest windows vista laptop (the painful irony) for awhile as benched by PC  world. this title was lost on 10/25/2007

only if you are talking about gaming has any since of what your saying been true, but if your doing work on your computer your statement is garbage

You are cherry picking. Of course if u search hard enuf u will find a decent Mac for your buck.

But take an average desktop Mac, and you'll find out that in general you can build yourself a PC for rughly half the price.

i can only believe thats true at the tail end of a particular updates lifespan. at the beginning in some cases the CPU or GPU used is not available  to other manufacturers yet, as was the case with the air, and the last mac pro update that changed in about 6 weeks, but you could not build a spec equivalent machine until then. and normally (id say with the exception of the air which is over the top in price) macs historically have been competitive in price for the first 3-4 months out the gate, apple does not update the  specs often enough to keep the prices in line all year, and rarely makes major price alterations
