Here's something interesting from the article- directly quoted from Ubisoft.
Microsoft really believed in the game potential and provided strong support to promote it. So, there is a "link of heart" between the franchise and the platform. Some games are like this (think of Final Fantasy for instance).
Wait a minute, "think of Final Fantasy"? Think of a game that was once Nintendo exclusive, then became Sony exclusive, then Sony-Microsoft multiplat, then Sony exclusive again, then Sony-Microsoft multiplat again? Is that the best example he could come up with?
Basically, it was moneyhatted. All previous Splinter Cell games have been on Sony platforms as well.
