I'm taking a wait and see approach. Still, find it hard to believe that VGC was off by that much. If the Conduit does turn out to "bomb" or "disappoint" or whatever you wanna call it, I would attribute it to two things:

1. The game simply isn't that good. A lot of mediocre reviews, and the more reviews we are getting, the more mediocre it seems. European reviews are out across the board now too, and for the most part, meh.... Here in Norway reviews score are in the form of eyes on a die, 1-6. It's firmly planted at "3" here, which means, well, mediocre. 4 is good, 5 is great, 6 is amazing. IGN's review of 8.6 is hard to fathom, I ususally trust those guys, but they hyped it so much it would have looked silly if they didn't give it praise in the review

2. It's been too long! Early in the Wii's life some hardcore games sold great, RE4:Wii and Red Steel comes to mind. Then there has been a loooooooooooong draught with no exclusive games of this type to be seen. Now some hardcore stuff came out this spring and early summer, but it looks like the Wii userbase is used to that these types of games are far and few between on the Wii, so they've stopped looking for them. The Wii didn't have to go like this, but publishers made it that way. In my opinion you're going to need a steady stream of high-quality games in the genre for the userbase to get into it, but now it looks difficult to stem the tide...
