There's only so many times you can lower your console $100 (or more in the case of Europe) and get to sell more consoles than the 360 and Wii for a couple weeks until it drops into last again. Each price drop simply moves them further and further away from beginning to make any kind of profit on the hardware while software sales stay at abysmal levels.

By their next price drop, they will have lowered the price of the console by more than the Wii currently costs. They've, in effect, removed 33% of the full price the console started at in less than a year and it's still fighting to just be competitive.

The price drop began at the middle of the week. Next week sales will be higher.
