Sony is in a situation where they can't have profitability and marketshare together due to ps3 production costs so they've rightfully chosen profitability instead. However, because of this, they'll never catch up in marketshare. Never forget that for every price cut sony makes on ps3 M$ can probably match up thus making it futile (and the wii won't be affected one bit) so they're better off sticking with the current price instead of incurring the massive losses such a price cut would bring.
