It gets weirder and weirder. From Greenpeace's FAQ:

Why does Nintendo with the most energy efficient game console score zero on energy efficiency?

Nintendo has the most energy efficient console when compared with Sony’s Playstation or Microsoft’s Xbox. However, no game console meets the Energy Star standard for PCs (v.4.0) the standard used also for game consoles.

How does that warrant a score of zero?

oddly enough it is because it they are missing a key features

Power Management

  • Monitor Sleep Mode: within 15 minutes of user inactivity
  • System Sleep Mode: within 30 minutes of user inactivity
  • Wake On LAN and Wake Management features (for some systems)

None of them have "monitor sleep mode", while I know the PS3 will shut off in 1 hour of inactivity, which meets the new video game section of v5 of the energy star guidlines for PCs. The only other area they could miss the energy star criteria is with power supply performance, but I really don't know on that part.

Giving a 0 for missing 1 features is rather lame though.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
